RE: Construction of Water Pipeline from Uvalde County to San Antonio
As a resident of the city and County of Uvalde, and the surrounding Winter Garden area, we wish to inform your organization of our continued opposition to the construction of a water pipeline to transport water to San Antonio. San Antonio needs water for its continued economic growth, while Uvalde depends on the continued availability of water as the basis of our local economy.
Regardless of what rationale and what “enticement” Southwest Texas Water Resources, LP, is providing, the end result is that it is greed and money that drives the construction of a water pipeline. The fact of the matter is that your company and its supporters view water as a commodity when, from a moral perspective, it is a needed resource that we depend on.
Your letter refers to the “social and cultural fabric” of the community, but you fail to note the economic impact a water pipeline will have. The euphemisms you use simply hide the true objective of your actions. We stress again, that we remain opposed to the construction of any water pipeline that endangers our livelihood.
