Hello. My name is Marisa i am a concerned parent i dont know if parents know that here in Uvalde the flores elementary do not offer students any kind of after school tutoring. The only thing that they offer is a reading coach and that is only if you qualify meaning if the student does not pass these taks test by alot they can qualify and just a certain amount of students can attend because they offer only one reading coach for all 5th grade students. The other help that they have is (during class) the teacher puts them in a group in my opionion i really dont think that this technique is very helpful because how can a teacher and im saying this because other teachers have told me this that how can they put all their attention to these kids or group of kids when you have the rest of your class their. I am not sure if the parents of these students are aware of this. I am one of those parents which i barely found out. I dont understand how the state requires for these 5th grades students to pass the taks test and pass to the next grade level if they dont have the help they need. We as parents need to get together or go by the main office and talk to the board members. I am thinking not only of my child that is in flores now but the others that are going that way. I just wanted to notify the parents of these kids and as myself i did talk to a board member at the main office but i dont believe one parent can make a difference lets hope it does but that is where you parents can come in and talk to someone in the main office.
